the oscar nomination for best foriegn film made him the first black director to represent france at oscars but ladj ly has even bigger goals: force french cinema make room for more filmmakers like him.

LOCATION

EARTH, LONDON, N16 8BH

we are excited to be staging this action at earth

originally built in 1936 the venue stopped showing films in 1984 (its last screening was scarface, fact fans) and became a snooker hall. the main auditorium then lay derelict for 40 years until it was rediscovered and restored by the team behind shoreditch’s arts venue village underground.

earth looks to become a leading light in london for audiences from all walks of life to meet, listen, watch and dance.
