lost is a new performance space in central london that fuses music, installation, theatre and film, from the founder of secret cinema. lost hosts events – lost nights – where the entire building is the stage, and artists can curate unparalleled multi-sensory experiences.
working schedule
the role is 48 hours a week in 5 days across the entire week. remote work or holiday days require at least one week’s notice. as part of lost’s live events and cultural programme, evening and late-night work will occasionally be required to support productions, installations and brand activations.
place of work
central london. you will be based at lost’s current home, 135–149 shaftesbury avenue, london, wc2h 8ah, but this is subject to change.
aims and responsibilities
● imaginative programming strategy: lost seeks a highly experienced and imaginative programmer and booker to lead the strategy of the lost festival for september 2025-january 2026.
● deliver commercially-astute programme: this individual will be responsible for devising and delivering a bold, inclusive and commercially viable programme across music, film, comedy, theatre and dance.
● representation of founder’s vision: the role will report directly to the founder, offering the successful candidate the chance to collaborate closely and contribute to lost’s growth and long-term positioning.
role-specific duties
creative & strategic leadership:
● develop and deliver a cohesive, cross-genre programming strategy that spans multi-experiential theatre, cinema, live performance, talks, literature, music and special events.
● shape the venue’s creative voice and public offering, ensuring a strong cultural identity that attracts diverse audiences.
● plan and maintain a dynamic programme calendar aligned with organisational and audience development goals.
team management & collaboration:
● collaborate with marketing, production, technical and operations teams to ensure smooth execution and audience engagement.
partnerships & industry relationships:
● build and maintain strong relationships with agents, distributors, publishers, labels, festivals, artists and cultural organisations.
● identify commissioning, co-production, and partnership opportunities to enhance the venue’s profile.
financial & operational oversight:
● contribute to programming budgets and revenue planning.
● track event performance and ensure programming meets audience and income targets while allowing creative risk-taking.
● manage, with the head of operations and finance manager, ticketing operations with a creative mindset, to ensure a fully ‘in-world’ experience for customers.
key skills & experience:
● minimum 3–5 years professional experience in programming and booking.
● proven track record of working with and scheduling a variety of acts and performers.
● strong portfolio of successful programmes.
● excellent understanding of programming and booking workflows.
● familiarity with design for cultural, entertainment and immersive event environments.
personal attributes:
● strongly personable, with a broad and deep network of performers and artists
● ability to balance creativity with discipline and execution.
● comfortable working under pressure and delivering to tight deadlines, including during late-night or event-based schedules.
● knowledgeable across a diverse range of artistic media.
● collaborative and communicative, with confidence in presenting and justifying programming choices.
