the first action was the multi-layered screening of ladj ly’s LES MISÉRABLES taking place at EARTH, a beautiful theatre in hackney, london.
we took over the venue to host over 25 emerging young artists from across the city, in partnership with tribe named athari, a collective of black youth activists and choreographer joseph toonga.

ladj ly is the director of the cannes jury prize winning film LES MISÉRABLES. he is the first black french director to be nominated for an oscar and is founder of the kourtrajmé film school, providing young people free training in professions in front of and behind the camera.
